Introduction

Since my father's generation the Lord family has been spread far beyond the borders of New England. We range from Iceland to California. My cousin Hamilton Lord bounces around between Florida, Wyoming, and Arizona. Perhaps this page will help bring us closer. Actually, it already has. The graphic at the top of this page was created by Palmi Hamilton Lord who worked as a graphic designer in Iceland several years ago. He has since moved to Florida.

My sister Betsy has spent many hours transcribing family diaries that we might learn first-hand of the lives of our predecessors. Her transcription of our great grandmother's diaries are included in these pages. Jodie picked up my mother's work and completed the family genealogy. Parker and Diana live in the Ely homestead and keep us in touch our heritage. Diana transcribed Henry Sill Lord's letters written during his service during tghe Civil War. Cousin Liz saved a lot of things including material relating to Henry Sill Lord's last great financial deal.

The Lord family coat of arms may be viewed here.

Welcome to those who visit. I hope perhaps you will find something here to enrich your own story, or maybe you have something that will help us fill the gaps in ours. My mother's line contains Porters and Joslyn's but I have found very little information about these families.

Since the Lord Family's Home Page went public it has grown both in size and in availability. It has been added to major search engines and portions, such as Henry Sill Lord's Civil War letters, have been linked to other sites. Lord relatives have been in touch seeking information.
